International Dimension

The Award equips young people for life

WHAT IS THE AWARD?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global framework for non-formal education and learning, which challenges young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. Through developing transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their community, the Award helps young people to find their purpose, passion and place in the world.
It operates in more than 130 countries and territories, helping to inspire millions of young people to take control and make their own choices. And although the Award’s framework remains the same wherever it is delivered, no two Awards are the same. Instead, each young person designs and creates their own bespoke programme, unique to them. There are currently more than a million young people doing their Award around the world, via hundreds of thousands of youth-focused partners and operators who are in tune with the interests and challenges facing young people today, including schools, youth organisations, examination boards and youth offender institutions.
El Hassan Youth Award is licensed by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation; a registered charity which drives and supports the Award’s global activity and growth through a social franchise model. For more information about the Foundation, visit https://intaward.org/.

International License

Al Hassan Youth Award received the international license from the Duke of Edinburgh International Award in 2015 and lasts for three years.

Ambition

By creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award can play a critical role in their development outside the classroom. It also allows their achievement to be consistently recognised worldwide, giving young people unique international accreditation of their experiences.

Our ambition is that every young person aged 14 to 24 in the world should have the opportunity to participate in the Award.

Governance

We are a registered charity and rely on the support of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations. They work with us to create empowered and forward thinking young people, who can make the most of a world of opportunity.

The Regions

National Award Operators and Independent Award Centres (IACs) around the world are supported through four regional offices:
